Angels – Free Pattern

Materials:

HOOKS NEEDED: 3.5mm, 4.5mm

YARN NEEDED: Extra chunky cotton, DK cotton

You can use different types of yarn for this project, just make sure to adjust your hook size accordingly: if you use thinner yarn (for example DK), then rather use a 3 or 3.5mm hook for the body.

Abbreviations:

Sc = single crochet

Dec = decrease

Inc = increase

Ch = chain

St = stitch

Sl st. = slip stitch

{} = crochet stitches shown in these brackets in same stitch

[ ] = number of stitches at end of round

* * = repeat stitches

Notes:

– The body and head are worked as one piece

– The body is worked in the round. The wings are worked in rows.

WINGS 3.5mm hook

1) Ch8, sl st in the first ch to join forming a ring. Ch2, Dc 18 in ring. Sl st in top of  1st Dc.                                 [18]

2) Ch4, do not turn. *Dc in next st, ch 1* x 17. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 4.                                           [36]

3) Sl st in next ch sp. Ch3, Dc 2 in same sp. Dc 3 in each remaining ch sp. Join with sl st to beg ch 3.    [54]

4) Ch1. Work the following across each Dc 3 group: *Sc in 1st Dc, Hdc in 2nd Dc, Dc in 3rd Dc, ch 3* Sl st in 1st Sc

5) Sl st in Dc. Sc in the ch 3 space. Ch5, *Sc in the ch 3 space, ch5* all the way around. Sl st in first sc made.

6) Ch1. In ch 5 space: *Sc, ch5, sc* Continue around in each ch 5 loop. Sl st in first Sc.

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing (picture):

Fold the doily in half and sewn onto the back of the angel (picture).

7) Sl st in first ch 5 loop, sc into loop, ch 5, *sc in next loop, ch 5* around. After last ch 5, sl st into first sc.

8) Ch3, Dc 5 in loop, *Dc in Sc, Dc 5 in loop*, continue around, ending with Dc 6 in last loop, and join with sl st to top of first ch3.

9) *Ch 4, sk 2 st(s), Sl st* rp to end. Sl st to base of 1st sl st.

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Fold the doily in half and sewn onto the back of the angel
