Materials:

HOOKS NEEDED: 12mm

YARN NEEDED:

160g/110m/1,2 yards of any other Bulky yarn

I used 2 skeins of Moya Bulky Plush yarn

Stitches used:

Sc = single crochet

Dc = double crochet

Ch = chain

Sl st = slip stitch

{} = crochet stitches shown in these brackets in same stitch

[ ] = number of stitches at end of round

* * = repeat stitches

Notes:

– To change se size of the cowl, just decrease or increase the number of starting stitches. The total should be an even number.

– The ch 1 and ch 2 at the beginning of each row DOES NOT COUNT as a stitch

– The 1st stitch of every row is NOT made in the same st as the chains (pic)

– The last stitch is always made in the SAME stitch as the chains

TWISTED COWL Version 1

Ch 41

Row 1) Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc across to end    [40]

  1. Bring the two ends together as if to sl st (pic)
  1. Twist the one end:
  1. Twist the same piece again:
  1. Slip stitch to complete circle:

Now your cowl has a twist in and you can continue as normal.

2) Ch 2, turn.  Dc 40, sl st to 1st dc (pic)                   [40]

3) Ch 1, turn. Sc 40, sl st to 1st sc                           [40]

4) Ch 2, turn. Dc 40, sl st to 1st dc                         [40]

Repeat rows (3 & 4) 5 more times

(you should have 14 rows in total)

FASTEN OFF

Version 1 FINISHED:

TWISTED COWL Version 2 (if you prefer a longer cowl)

Ch 45

Row 1) Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc across to end    [44]

Bring the two ends together as if to sl st

Twist the one end twice (180°) and slip st in the 1st sc made

Now your cowl has a twist in and you can continue as normal.

2) Ch 2, turn.  Dc 40, sl st to 1st dc                         [44]

3) Ch 1, turn. Sc 40, sl st to 1st sc                           [44]

4) Ch 2, turn. Dc 40, sl st to 1st dc                         [44]

Repeat rows (3 & 4) 4 more times

(you should have 12 rows in total)
